As we all know, exercise is great for the body and the mind, but it takes its toll just as much.
It is equally as important to maintain your body between training sessions as it is to attend the actual training sessions. Regular sports massage (between 2-6 week intervals depending on training intensity) is highly recommended. Sports massage has been proven to act as a large part of prevention of injury; from small niggles and DOMS, all the way to stress fractures. Sports massage will also aid the muscles into relaxing again, thus preventing the likelihood of knots.
Aside from sports massage, it is imperative to remain sufficiently hydrated and to consume calories relative to your exercise programme. Be sure to do your warm up, stretching and cool down as well.
Most of all, remember to have fun!
Be Smart.
